Laughing off claims he saw on Facebook, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday joked he wished he got the $3.2million some Opposition parliamentarians claim he gets.

Aside from the Prime Minister’s function, Mr Bainimarama acts as the Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Sugar Industry and Foreign Affairs.

Last December, he handed the reins for the role of Waterways and Drainage Minister to Mahendra Reddy.

“Somebody in just the last two days – a member of our parliament – said on his Facebook that I have about five portfolios (I have only four) and that I get paid about $3.2million  – I wish!,” Mr Bainimarama laughed.

“No matter how many portfolios you hold, you only get paid once – and it’s NOT $3.2million”.

He said the reason Cabinet members had multiple portfolios was to cut down the number of ministers so they could focus on “doing things for Fiji”.
