PM Still Leads At 66% Despite ATS Row

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama maintains his strong lead in a latest opinion poll despite the Air Terminal Services dispute.

The Fiji Sun-Razor opinion survey shows that Mr Bainimarama is at 66 per cent as preferred Prime Minister. In second place is Opposition leader Ro Teimumu Kepa at 18 per cent. She is still ahead of SODELPA leader Sitiveni Rabuka who is at 11 per cent.

Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry and National Federation Party leader Biman Prasad scored two per cent. Other, one per cent respectively.

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum keeps his lead as preferred deputy PM at 48 per cent; Aseri Radrodro (SODELPA MP) seven per cent; Pio Tikoduadua (NFP) five per cent; Niko Nawaikula (SODELPA MP) four per cent; Other one per cent; Unsure 33 per cent.

If the General Election was held today, the poll says FijiFirst would score 61 per cent of the votes; SODELPA 26 per cent; NFP two per cent; Unity Fiji 1 per cent; FLP 0 per cent; None of current  two per cent; Unsure, eight per cent.

Ninety-one per cent of those polled have registered to vote, seven per cent said no and two per cent were unsure. The high percentage is attributed to the voter registration drive by the Fijian Elections Office.

The survey sample was 600, 300 in the Central Division, 200 in the Western Division and 100 in the Northern Division. It was conducted othis week in face-to-face interviews.
