Nalalawa, Nalawa, Ra native Sala Naqeleca aims to lead her Raiwai Eagles women’s team to a top two finish in the 2018 Marist Volleyball which starts on Friday.

The final will be on Saturday at the Vodafone Arena.

The Eagles comprise experienced player like 2014 national rep Tema Serevi.

“This is our first Marist Volleyball competition and we have a very experienced side,”Naqeleca said.

“We hope to finish in the top two positions.

“Right now we are working on our defence and hopefully we get through the finals.”

Making every block counts

Sairusi Navuniwai 25, is one of the young inspiring Raiwai Eagles men’s volleyball  rep who aims to make every of his blocks count.

“This is my fourth Marist Volleyball tournament and I’m looking forward to a good finish,” Navuniwai said.

The Doi, Ono-l-Lau native has been playing the sport for the fifth year now and fell in love with the sport since growing up in the Raiwai community.

“I like playing the sport because this is a famous sport in this neighbourhood,”Navuniwai said.

The middle blocker focuses on doing everything right.

“My main aim is to strengthen my defence and make every block count.”
