The Hexagon Group of Hotels has an employee recognition scheme for service excellence.

The Employee of the Month awards are done for all the three Hotels in the Group. That is, the Hexagon International Hotel, Villas and Spa, The Suva Motor Inn and the Grand Wests Villas.

Employee of the Month Award at each of the hotels recognises this achievement by hosting a monthly staff function whereby monthly winners are announced and presented with their certificates and cash prize.

All the Employee of the Month winners from the three Hotels are than assessed for the Employee of the Group Award which is selected by the group chairman, Hafiz Khan.

There were two winners, for this year’s awards.

One from the Hexagon International Hotel, Villas and Spa, Mereoni Waqanivere, Vikash Nand, of the Suva Motor Inn.

Ms Waqanivere is the Front Desk supervisor at the Hexagon International Hotel, Villas and Spa.

She has been working for the company since 1998 mainly in the front office and reservations department.

Ms Waqanivere was judged the Best Employee of the Year for the hotel in 2015.

She is described as going to any length to provide great service to guests.

She is also a team player and a reliable staff willing to assist the hotel at any time even during adverse weather conditions.

She makes all effort including crossing swollen rivers to be at work. She even stayed behind during cyclones to ensure that the operation of the hotel continues for guests’ safety and comfort.

In accepting her reward she asked that employees continue the team work and the service provided to customers and also asked that everyone in the hotel to follow her example.

The other recipient, Vikash Nand of Suva Motor Inn, started work in 2000 for the Group in one of our subsidiary companies the Mardean Apartments before he moved to the Suva Motor Inn.

Mr Nand has been serving the hotel for 16 years and is currently the Maintenance Supervisor at the Suva Motor Inn.

He has won many service awards in the past including this year when he was awarded the Employee of the Month twice.

He has shown great dedication and is always on call 24/7 to ensure that the operation and the maintenance side of the hotel runs efficiently.

Mr Nand is an all-rounder in the maintenance department including involvement with the Suva Motor Inn room and public area upgrade and renovations. He is a quiet and a respectful person who never says no to any work allocated to him and always strives to ensure that his work standards and the end product is excellent.

In his acceptance speech he thanked the hotel for looking after him and he stated that he will continue with his good work and do his best for the hotel.

Group Mananging Director Dixon Seeto said: “The awards was to thank the staff for the great service  and fitting reward for the employees.

“No doubt it will motivate the staff.”
