It has been worth the wait, says Raksha Narayan, as she takes her seat in her new classroom.

The new headgirl of Vunisamaloa Sangam School in Korovuto, Ba, is celebrating with other students the new facilities in their new school building.

She praised the Government for constructing a wonderful building with modern facilities.

She said they were told the building was built to last, much stronger and safer to meet specific standards.

The old building was destroyed by Tropical Cyclone Winston in February, 2016. The move from the temporary shelter to the new classrooms has been welcomed by Raksha and her student body.

The aspiring accountant said she was fortunate enough to be chosen to lead the students into 2018 in their new school blocks.

“I have attended this school since Year One,” she said.

“Year Eight is also a crucial year for any student, so I thank  the Government for allowing me to finish my primary school in a proper classroom.”

Ms Narayan also has a younger sister in Year Six.

She said the future students of Vunisamaloa will have access to the new facilities while having the highest standard of education.

“My sister, who is in Year Six, is lucky since she can enjoy these facilities in the years to come,” she said.

“For me I was able to have both experiences in the temporary shelter and the new classroom. Now when the new students enter our school they will have the best education which was made possible by this Government.”
