The Denarau Friends of Rugby is gearing up to its first RES Master’s Rugby 10s Cup Challenge at Mt St Marys School ground in Martintar, Nadi, tomorrow.

After the successful inaugural Fiji Masters competition last year, the round robin challenge has attracted top teams with players over the age of 38.

The new teams are, Tovolea Reds, Nawaka All Stars, Vaturu Raiders, Saunaka and Gaunavou Blues.

Tournament co-ordinator Epineri Susu said they are excited with more teams coming in.

“We welcome them. We hope the system helps keep us fit and healthy and also a form of catching up with old mates,” he said.

“We like to thank all teams responding to our club invitation.”
NADROGA 10s TODAY

The Nadroga Rugby Union 10s tournament starts today at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.

Nadroga Rugby Union president Tiko Matawalu said there has been a lot of interest among the clubs.

“It’s great to start the off season before the Skipper Cup takes shape,” he said.

Matawalu said there are two categories- the Top 16 division and the Pro2 division with Cup winners receiving $1500 and $1000 respectively.
