Navakawau Villagers Bring Grievances To Talanoa Session

Villagers of Navakawau in Taveuni raised issues of road condition, school blocks and the need for an evacuation centre during the talanoa session with Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and his delegation.
Village headman Sefanaia Ravatu said they wanted improvements in these areas mentioned to improve living standards in the village.
“We are worried because our children are still using a shed to accommodate them during classes and also the road badly needs fixing,” Mr Ravatu said.
“Families here have built their houses after tropical Cyclone Winston, but we would like to have an evacuation centre because that would be very helpful for us when natural disasters happen.”
Mr Bainimarama told villagers that he would look into the concerns they have raised.
“I am really worried about the road and especially the school. We will build the school before the road,” Mr Bainimarama said.
“Building the school requires a lot of planning. We have to build the school and it can also be an evacuation centre.”
