PM Meets Rabuka At Drekeniwai

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and SODELPA leader Sitiveni Rabuka put aside their political differences when they met at Drekeniwai Village, Cakaudrove, yesterday.

MrRabuka played host because this is his village.

In fact, he presented the iQaloqalovi, the traditional presentation of the tabua(whalestooth) to welcome Mr Bainimarama and his delegation to the village.

Mr Rabuka welcomed Mr Bainimarama with open arms. They hugged and shook hands.

Mr Bainimarama and his delegation visited MrRabuka’s village to open Drekeniwai District School’s solar system.

Mr Rabuka said the Prime Minister and his delegation were welcome to the village.

Chief of Drekeniwai, the Ratu iNavatu, Ratu Epeli Wainiu said the installation of the solar system would help the students.

“It is a good move because the children will benefit from this. The students will be able to study at night,” MrWainiu said.

“Students of the school can now be introduced to computer classes.”

Mr Bainimarama encouraged the students to work hard.

“I encourage you to do your best in whatever tasks that you are being assigned to carry out from the teachers and also from your parents or guardians.

“You will be our future leaders in your homes, communities and even some will be leading organisations in the private and public sector,” Mr Bainimarama said.

“The Drekeniwai District Schools solar project which has a cost of $15,186 also demonstrates a good partnership example between the Government and the community.

Half of the cost was provided by the community and the balance was met by the Government.

Mr Bainimarama also launched the Walesi platform at the village.
