Six Tongans Awarded Kiwi Scholarships to Study at Tertiary Institutions in Fiji

Six Tongan students, who have earned scholarships, will start studying at the two prominent tertiary institutions in Fiji.
It has been confirmed that Fiji alongside New Zealand will host Tongan students with tertiary scholarships starting this year.
The New Zealand High Commission in Tonga said there were a total of 26 students whereby 20 students have been accepted into New Zealand universities and six will study at the University of the South Pacific (USP) or the Fiji National University (FNU).
New Zealand high Commissioner Nick Hurley said the New Zealand Pacific Scholarships and New Zealand Regional Development Scholarships were funded through the NZ Aid Programme.
Mr Hurley hosted a reception on Wednesday evening to celebrate the students achievement and to welcome home returning alumni.
Mr Hurley congratulated the scholarship winners and encouraged them to seize this opportunity to be bold and brave.
He asked the awardees to challenge themselves and to always remember that they are ambassadors for their family, village and for Tonga.
