Thirty Fiji Corrections Service custodial wardens yesterday successfully completed a three-week Correctional Officers Class C Leadership Promotion Course at their training academy in Naboro.

The course covered legislations, including the Corrections Service Act, Commissioners Orders, basic counselling skills, Standing Operating procedures, custodial duties, basic service writing , basic leadership, administration and policy, first aid, parade training and physical training.

Commandant of the FCS Training Academy Chief Corrections Officer Rusiate Batiratu impressed on the 30 candidates the need to exercise the lessons learnt from the training.

“I challenge you to be ambassadors of change when you return to your units,’’ he said.

The 30 custodial wardens are from the correction centres around the country.

Commissioner of Corrections Commander Francis Kean was present to award 20 of the candidates with their promotion badges to substantive Corrections Officers Class C.

“Thank you for your diligence and commitment to duty. Always commit yourselves to an honest day’s work,” he said.
