Rebels Win Marist

The Rebels volleyball team won the 2018 Marist Vol­leyball competition after thumping Blackhawks 3-0 at the Vodafone Arena yesterday. The new champion won $4,000 af­ter scoring 25-17, 25-23 and 25-14.

The Rebels volleyball team won the 2018 Marist Vol­leyball competition after thumping Blackhawks 3-0 at the Vodafone Arena yesterday.

The new champion won $4,000 af­ter scoring 25-17, 25-23 and 25-14.

The Raiwai-based side dominated the Kinoya team from the start.

The winning side lifted momen­tum in the second set as they stuck to their structures aided with the backing of the fans.

Team manager David Bechu said the secret behind the success of the team was teamwork and unity among the players.

“For us unity and team bonding was the key factor in the team. We just worked together and encour­age each other.

“We want to thank the Lord and our supporters for the win,” Bechu said.

“This means a lot to our commu­nity.”

Meanwhile, Blackhawks manager Rosa Dalituicama said they were happy after reaching the final.

“For us coming into the fi­nal is what we set up to do after we reached the quarterfinal in 2016,”she said.

“Reaching the final is an achieve­ment for us.”
