Sprinter Aaron Powell aims to deliver his best performance at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia in April.

He won the 100 metres final at the Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu last month and was later disqualified for a false start,

Powell attended Athletics Fiji trials at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday as he focused on improving his time and performance

“The trials went smoothly for me and I am taking it slow and still focusing on the hard part of my preparation for the Commonwealth Games,” Powell said.

“I feel I still got a lot to work on in order to better my time and performance.

“Actually my time during the trial was not as what I expected but I will still take it as a positive move and keep working towards improving my time.

“I am looking forward to the Commonwealth Games as this will be my first international competition and I hope to the exposure.

“But for me as an athlete the only way we can achieve our goal is through dedication and commitment.

“I’ve ample time to prepare and I intend to work hard to achieve my target.”
