Josua Vakurinabili proudly wore the “Super Rookie” tag last night when he saved the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team from defeat in this storming run to the tryline against arch rivals New Zealand in the Sydney 7s tournament.
He earned his stripes, ploughing through a number of gang-tackling Kiwis to touch down. His try pushed Fiji to the top of the pool with a 19-17 win.
The 23-year-old Fiji Corrections Service officer was the toast of the team in the dressing room. Fiji will meet USA in the first quarterfinal at 12.28pm today in what is expected to be another thriller.
