Early Morning Mishap Claims Mechanic’s Life

Twenty three-year-old, Mosheem Hakeem is the latest road victim after the car he was driving got involved in a fatal road accident at Korovuto in Nadi yesterday.
The Nalovo Settlement mechanic was returning from a friend’s wedding with two other friends when the incident happened at around 3am.
When the Fiji Sun approached his family elder brother; Soheb Hakeem requested that a family photo not be taken.
The 26-year-old said he had just returned from a vacation in Sydney, Australia and that the death of his only brother has caused grief for his family.
“My mum just returned from Labasa to farewell my grandfather who passed away a few days ago and now she has to deal with the death of my younger brother,” Soheb said.
He described Mosheem Hakeem as a hard working and jolly person.
“The most thing painful in life is losing a loved one, I have lost a best friend and someone whom I can trust to share my problems with, he was kind and caring,” Soheb.
With tears in his eyes, he said that Mosheem had requested if he could take his car to a friend’s wedding.
“My father called and requested that Mosheem drive my car to his friend’s wedding, I agreed that he use it and that was the last time I heard from him,” Mr Hakeem said.
Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said the victim allegedly lost control of the vehicle near Korovuto causing it to veer off the road and crash into a water authority chamber. She said the other two passengers were in their 20s and were admitted at the Nadi Hospital.
“Investigations continue and a post mortem examination will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death,” Ms Naisoro said.
