Navua Women Target Top Spot

Navua women’s football side thrashed Nasinu 7-2 in the second round of the Vodafone Senior Women’s League competition at the Fiji Football Academy ground in Vatuwaqa, Suva, on Saturday.
Speaking to SUNsports, Navua coach Jim Knowles was impressed with their first win of the season and hopes to maintain their winning performance throughout the competition.
“We didn’t come prepared for the game but I am happy that we won,” Knowles said.
“We hope to maintain our performance all throughout the competition and be able to claim the top spot.
“Despite the win today we still need to work on our fitness. Last week, unfortunately we lost to Rewa 4-1 in our first match and this week I’m pleased that the girls managed to produce a better result which was very encouraging to see.
“However, our major challenge is that we don’t have a proper ground for training.
“So as a result the girls end up doing their own training for the weekly games. I hope the Navua Football Association could look into this matter and provide us with a ground to train the players.”
