Football referees and instructors in Vanua Levu participated in a three-day referee assessors and fitness instructors course at Bulileka Primary School.

Fiji Football Association’s referee’s director, Rakesh Varman said the course was to help upcoming referees and assessors.

“The aim is to develop fitness instructors and referees assessors in the North,” Varman said.

“We have two instructors from Labasa, two from Savusavu and two from Seaqaqa who are taking part in this basic fitness and refereeing technique.”

Varman said it was the first course in Vanua Levu for this year.

“They sat exams on the laws of the game, video test, practical situations, drills and fitness. We did not have any qualified fitness instructors but now they have learnt the basics and will learn more as time goes by.”
