More Fijians are now applying for business registrations than ever before.

The Companies Office receives an average of 800 applications for new registrations of businesses and companies daily from around the country.

Companies Office officials have confirmed that this massive increase in number of applications from first week of January has prompted them to extend their opening hours.

Officials have also confirmed that more Fijians were coming out and registering businesses, as their confidence in Fijian economy and policies of the FijiFirst Government grows.

Also, more people are looking at securing small and micro enterprises grants which is administered through the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism.

Applications from all their divisional offices are brought to HQ for signing: Rakiraki, Lautoka, Labasa, Nadi, Savusavu, Sigatoka.

In the Central and Eastern Divisions more people are registering canteens, tailoring businesses, while majority applications from the Western Division is to register livestock businesses.

In the Northern Division, a mix of livestock and small canteens which people plan to operate.

This is healthy sign for any economy when locals invest in small businesses.
