Vodafone Fiji Limited renewed a four- year deal worth $4 million with Fiji National Rugby League in Tamavua, Suva yesterday.

The sponsorship will assist in the development of  competition in the Primary schools, Secondary schools, National Club Championship and the national teams from 2018- 2021.

Vodafone Fiji Limited head of e-commerce and corporate affairs Shailendra Prasad said renewing the deal was a milestone achievement.

“We started off with our sponsorship with FNRL 12 years ago,” Prasad said.

“And we have had three Rugby League World Cup in which Fiji had reached the semifinal. Last year we managed to beat a tier one nation, New Zealand.

“Vodafone share the excitement and anticipation of what the sport has to offer moving forward and recommitted to the sponsorship that has produced some of the world’s best players.

“There are plans in place to take the sport to another level and we love to see the Vodafone Fijian Bati side play in the finals in the not too distant future.

“The RLWC draws are not in favor for tier two nations so we really need to struggle given the resources at our disposal to match Australia, New Zealand and England. And despite the entire odds Fiji did tremendously well.”

FNRL chief executive officer, Timoci Naleba was grateful for the continuous support.

“Having Vodafone supporting rugby league have changes in the lives of the players especially to those that have played at NRL level,”he said.
