Bus Driver Charged With Giving False Information To Public Servant

A 50-year-old bus driver appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday charged with one count of giving false information to a public servant.

The accused, Gyaneshwar Prasad, appeared before Magistrate Waleen George and had his bail extended.

It is alleged that on September 4, 2017, at about 2:30pm, the accused gave false information to a Police officer that his son was in Labasa whereas his son was at his residence in Raiwaqa.

However, with the assistance of other officers, the accused’s son was arrested from his residence on the same day.

The matter was reported at the Raiwaqa Police Station and the accused was arrested and interviewed under caution where he admitted to the allegation of lying to the Police.

The case was adjourned to November 22, 2018 for mention.
