Discipline ranks very high in the hearts and minds of Sameer Lal and Simran Swashna Singh, the newly appointed headboy and headgirl of Dr Ram Lakhan Memorial Primary School in Nasinu.

The duo was badged at a special ceremony at the school yesterday.

Year Eight student Sameer, 12, of Nasinu said he was happy to become the headboy of the school as he has “fulfilled his parents wish”.

“My parents wanted me to become headboy because they believed I could prove to be a good student and handle the leadership role as well,” Sameer said.

“As a headboy, I want to set good examples for the students so they can study hard and achieve good results.

“I want to lead by example. If I do the right thing then the other students will follow suit.

“I will work alongside the headgirl and the headteacher to ensure that the students are well-disciplined and obey the teachers.”

Headgirl Simran, 12, of Nasinu, said she expected to become the headgirl of the school.

“I am happy to get the badge of headgirl because I worked hard for it.

“I had dreamed to become the headgirl and I have achieved it today.

“As a headgirl, I want to ensure that the students follow rules set by teachers.

“I want to set an example for them by following the rules and regulations myself.”

Like the headboy Sameer, she is encouraging students to be disciplined, and hardworking.

“I want them to achieve good results in their exams,’’ Simran said.
