Ignore negative comments

Spencer Robinson, Suva

It is interesting to read and hear of the numerous comments in the media, yaqona sessions and on the streets of Fiji’s poor performance at the Sydney Sevens last weekend.

While some commented on the errors that Fiji made, the other comments were pleasing to read because it suggested ways in which Fiji could improve its performances.

I am amazed by the uncountable rugby analysts we have in Fiji. When Fiji wins everyone’s happy and the atmosphere is better than Christmas.

It is only when Fiji loses when the majority of us, without thinking, put up irresponsible comments especially on social media.

We as Fijians must understand that it is only the players, coach and management who would know what the core problems are and they must effectively work as a team to address them expeditiously.

I would like to encourage our Fiji 7s team to ignore those negative comments from irresponsible fans but take heed of the constructive comments to add to their strategies for future series, especially the Hamilton 7s this weekend.

My best wishes to Team Fiji in New Zealand this weekend and let us all continue to support and cheer for our beloved team. Go Fiji Go!

Anthony dilemma

Dharmendra Kumar, Suva

In his analysis today (Fiji Sun, Jan 31), your writer Nemani Delaibatiki, has asked Felix Anthony to make a choice: “Lucarative union job or politics”

It’s so obvious that he will keep his lucrative union job because he is fully aware of the consequences if he tries to contest the 2018 general elections.

Mr Anthony has made a choice: Hold on to the big dollars and continue poking his nose into politics. Prove us wrong and contest in the 2018 elections. And, when you see the reality then run back to your union job.

Fijian voters are not fools.

Anthony as Consultant?

Simon Hazelman, Savusavu

Lynda Tabuya stated that Felix Anthony attended the party management board meeting as a consultant and adviser (Fiji Sun/Jan 31).

Now why on earth would you use someone who failed miserably at the 2014 elections to be your party consultant and adviser?

Anthony’s involvement simply suggests a political collusion involving Tubuya, Anthony, PDP and SODELPA.

Their involvement in the recent ATS saga suggests this further!

Beware people!

Stop water tap theft

Narayan Reddy, Lautoka

Some people have been stealing the taps attached to water tanks which were placed around Lautoka. Some of these tanks are already filled with water.

When the taps are removed all the water in the tank is wasted. We are only a day away from the water cut.

Please stop stealing the taps because innocent people might just not have water because of someone’s wrong-doings.

Teachers’ unions

Sailesh Singh, Nasinu

Can someone please let me know why there are two teachers’ unions in Fiji?

Fiji Teachers Union and Fijian Teachers Association.

Isn’t it dualistic work that we have two unions representing the same teachers?
