The 32nd Fiji Bitter Nawaka Sevens was launched in Nadi last night.

Traditional sponsor Paradise Beverages Fiji contributed $36,000 to the annual event which will be held on February 23-24 at Prince Charles Park, Nadi.

Paradise Beverages Fiji Head of Sales and Trade Relations Joe Rodan Snr said, “This is the 32nd year of the tournament which shows our long term partnership.

“We strongly believe that sports assist in the development of our country. We win or lose we will be still there behind the national team since all these players have competed in our sponsored tournaments nationwide.

The sponsorship covers $30,000 in cash and $6000 in kind which includes the souvenir can of the Fiji Bitter Marist 7’s that is expected to be launched next week.

Nawaka Rugby Club president Jioji Kinisi said, “We are very excited and truly grateful for the continuous support.

“This year, fans could expect a feast of rugby as the best clubs in the country are expected to participate.

“We have brought our tournament to February to ensure that our best talents are available.”

Kinisi confirmed 64- teams will compete in the men’s division, eight Oldies, 16 under 19’s, and eight women.

Cup winner gets $15, 000 and $5000 for the runners-up, $1000 more compared to previous years.

Taveuni will defend their title in the men’s category, Water Authority of Fiji in the Oldies division and Coastline Ratu Filise for the U19.

The tournament is co-sponsored by BSP, FIJI Water, Vodafone, BLK, Coastal Rental, Fiji TV, FMF, RES (Australia), and  Wills Trading (Fiji) Limited.
