Aussie Coach Assists Our Swimmers

Australian swimming coach Michael Bohl is assisting our Fijian swimmers as they prepare for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast on April 4-15.
Five swimmers and two officials will be taking part in the Games.
Fiji Swimming coach Sharon Smith said they were fortunate to secure the assistance of Bohl who is currently guiding some senior Australian swimmers preparing for the Commonwealth Games.
Bohl conducted basic training and video analysis to monitor their progress.
“Bohl took them for a couple of sessions working on skills, drills, starts and turns.
“We also had video analysis done on all swimmers. With 61 more days left we are in intensive training,” Smith said.
Matelita Buadromo, Epeli Ralovo and Taichi Vakasama are part of Fiji’s extended squad for the Games and have been showing impressive result during training.
“We have had physio sessions, screening and strength and conditioning programmes.
“Our preparation is going very well, so far so good but the only challenge now is the nerves. But apart from that everything is okay,” she added.
Smith earlier indicated their primary goal was getting their swimmers through to the finals stages of the Commonwealth Games.
Fiji Swimming has organised two events as preparation platforms for the four-yearly event. The annual Long Course Grand Prix at the Damodar City Aquatic Centre in Suva in February and March.
The names of the five swimmers will be confirmed by February 7.
