Officials Anticipate Exciting Competition

Weightlifting Fiji officials anticipates exciting performances in the upcoming National Weightlifting competition on February 19.
The competition will be held at the Hyundai National Fitness Centre in Laucala Bay, Suva.
This competition would see their seven lifters competing at the 2018 Commonwealth Games against few of the best lifters in the country.
Weightlifting Fiji general secretary Ritesh Ratiram said it would be an entertaining competition since the return of their top lifters from Noumea, New Caledonia after a week-long training.
“There have been indications of our athletes improving on their lifts and we are anticipating seeing some impressive performance from them in the National Weightlifting Competition in February,” Ratiram said.

Fijian weightlifter Manueli Tulo.
Ratiram said their seven Commonwealth Games athletes along with eight to seven young lifters from Ovalau would be competing in the competition.
“We have some lifters who will be representing Fiji in the Oceania Weightlifting Championship in June and also for the Youth Olympics qualification spot.”
He said they were aiming at getting their athletes for the Youth Olympics too.
