Suva Cricket On The Hunt For New Talent

The Suva Cricket Association (SCA) is on the hunt for fresh talent to represent the capital city for the upcoming National Championship.

SCA vice-president Tariq Batti said they would be using their league competition as a selection platform.

“It will not be an easy task selecting 25 to 30 players from a group of 140, but we will be keeping an eye out for some players,” Batti said.

He said their aim was getting as much game time for their players leading up to the competition.

The Suva cricket team felt short in last year’s competition, but would be working very hard in winning the championship.

Batti said they were also working on ways in developing and promoting the sport throughout Fiji.

“But we do not have many sponsors yet but we are working on that so we can build our sport,” Batti said.

Cricket has been in Fiji for some quite some time now, but there had been not much interest shown by the members of the general public.

But all that is about to change as Batti highlighted they would be working, planning and implementing new ideas to the development and growth of the game.
