Twenty four teams will take part in the Fiji National Rugby League (FNRL) 9s competition at Lawaqa Park on Saturday.

FNRL chief executive officer Timoci Naleba said they wanted to start their 2018 season with a bang.

“We do want to encourage competition among our players but it is more in getting our coaches and captains to really look at their teams,” Naleba said.

He said the competition also allowed coaches in gauging their team’s performance,

Naleba highlighted that competition presented a chance for teams to reflect on their plans and strategy before the official 2018 season begins.

WORKSHOP

The FNRL will also be holding a workshop for coaches.

This falls in line with the FNRL KALAWA programme which would be contributing to the development and improvement of their local competition.
