The Solomon Islands Rugby Union Federation (SIRUF) will be hosting a Soltuna 7s for Solomon’s descendants in Fiji on March 17.

The tournament is sponsored by the DEFAT programme under the Australian Aid.

Former national rep and SIRUF national development manager Alivereti Mocelutu said it would be used as a platform to select their national teams.

“The aim of the tournament is to strengthen the bond, relationship and most important scout for potentials players to represent Solomons in the y Oceania 7s Championship, Pacific Games and World Sevens Series,” Mocelutu said.

He said they would be accommodating 12 teams, two local and 10 for Solomon Islands descendants in Fiji.

“Two teams from Solomon Islands include the national team and Islanders Rugby club.”

After their impressive performance during the Pacific Mini Games in Port Vila, Vanuatu, the SIRUF had made the move in exposing their national team to more international matchups.
