The Fiji Sports Awards committee welcomes Tattersalls Fiji as the Presenting Partner and major sponsor for the 2018 Fiji Sports Awards next month.

Tattersalls Fiji has once again thrown its support behind sports in the country with a cash contribution of $30,000 for the 2017 Fiji Sports Awards.

Tattersalls Fiji has been a supporter for the yearly event since 2001 when the Fiji Sports Awards were organized by the Fiji Sports Council and later became a major supporter when the Awards became a partnership between the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC), Fiji Sports Council and the Fiji National Sports Commission.

The Fiji Sports Awards committee is very grateful for the strong support from Tattersalls and their commitment to sports recognition in the country.

The Sports Awards recognise the contribution of athletes, administrators, coaches, volunteers and photographers to sports in Fiji.

Swimmer Matelita Buadromo, judoka Tevita Takayawa, weightlifters like Maria Liku, Manueli Tulo and athletics Banuve Tabakaucoro and powerlifter Sainimili Turner are names of a few that have won awards. Teams like the Fiji Pearls, Fiji Football and Fiji Hockey have also won awards in the past for their achievements in sport in Fiji.

Eleven category awards are for grabs this year that  include Coach of the Year, Administrator of the Year, Technical Official of the Year, Sports Photograph of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Sports Team of the Year, Young Sportsman and Sportswoman and the main Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year.

Tattersalls Fiji will also host the Nominees Reception on February 23 where trophies will be presented.

In confirming this partnership, Tattersalls Fiji Executive Director, Graeme Brown said that it is a privilege and honour to help sport in Fiji.
