The fashion industry has so much to offer and contribute to the economy. The Fji Sun is supporting this as Fiji’s biggest newspaper.

Fiji Sun has become the official print media for The Fashion Council of Fiji and the Fijian Fashion Festival.

Fashion Council of Fiji chairman Faraz Ali said: “We are very pleased to have the Fiji Sun on board as our print partner.

“The Fiji Sun has been very supportive of our industry and this has not gone unnoticed by our council.

“It initially featured designers and other creative people including myself and then it sort of escalated and sort of joined us in our vision of establishing fashion as a business in the psyche of the Fijian population.

“With that support it really made the council to consider perhaps a change in direction was needed in terms of our media partnership and in terms of who we support as a council.

“Because the Fiji Sun has been so supportive of us and we are completely in support of them. We see this truly as a partnership and we hope to give to the Fiji Sun as much as they give to us.

“So the council will be actively working with the Fiji Sun to ensure that journalists are trained in fashion writing which is a specific skill currently not available in Fiji.

“Media is critical and central to the success of any industry and more so for ours because we need exposure for our designers, we need exposure for our photographers, for our PR people and for everybody involved in our industry.”

Fiji Sun General Manager Advertising and Business Development Rachna Lal said: “Fiji Sun is very excited with this new partnership with the Fashion Council of Fiji for the Fijian Fashion Festival.

“Through this  partnership, we hope to not only back the event and the council but also create awareness about fashion and the fashion industry in the country.

“This is an industry with a lot of potential and quite significant in terms of economic growth and development. And thus, Fiji Sun, is proud to be a part of this Festival and the Council’s efforts to promote fashion in Fiji.”
