Commissioner of Police, Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho has directed his crime officers to reopen a 2015 robbery case.

Nasole resident Indar Singh was a victim of a major robbery in which no arrests were made.

“I have directed the Crime Officers to reopen that file and relook at the issues that are there and if we could pursue further,” Brigadier-General Qiliho said.

On Monday, Brigadier-General Qiliho and Police Officers from the Valelevu Police Station visited Mr Singh at his residence in Nasole, Nasinu, regarding a temple break-in on Mr Singh’s private property where the temple stands, which occurred on February 1.

Brigadier-General Qiliho said: “The case is of great concern to us because Mr Singh is a senior citizen residing with his wife.

“I have also directed the officers to meet with the Nasole Methodist Church Pastor to discuss issues of looking after the community of Nasole.

“And on how they can get the Church members in the area to keep an eye out and look after the senior citizen couple.

“I am very happy with the work the officers have done in order to arrest some suspects in regards to the temple break ins around the country.

“And we will not rest but continue to pursue the investigation.

“Religious sacrilege should not happen and if it is not addressed properly, other issues could rise also.

“The investigations reveal that there were cases of robbery where people were looking for money which resulted in damaging of deities and other items in the temples.”
