As the newly inducted headgirl of Lautoka Methodist Primary School adjust to her new role, Christina Tubakilau believes she is tasked to uphold values and respect to the student.

The 13-year-old girl from Lau aims to uphold the school’s motto – “Leaders are the ambassadors that uphold values in society”.

Christina said for her to be a good leader she would need to earn the respect of the rest of the students.

“Respect is something that is earned, so been given the title as head I will need to show the students of our school what respect really means,” she said.

“As the saying goes, respect is earned, so I will have to be a good example to the students to earn their respect.”

Christina, who aspires to be a pilot believes hard work was crucial for any person to succeed.

“I hope to be a pilot in the near future, I know hard work is the main key and I will do whatever it takes help my families,” she said.

Headboy Penaia Drauna, 13, was happy to be given the title. The Vanua Levu native, who comes from a family of six siblings, thanked his family for their support.

Eight-four prefects were badged yesterday.
