Among the inducted prefects at Naivicula District School was a familiar face, Timoci Naulusala, 13, who was one of the faces at the United Nations Climate Change COP 23 meeting in Bonn, Germany last year.

His mother Raijeli Tinai, 51 was emotional and overwhelmed about his son’s achievement.

“I thank the Lord for the role he has been given today and never in my wildest dreams did I think that Timoci would be a senior prefect,” she said.

“I thank Almighty God for giving him a prominent position in the school and I wish him all the best in the new position he has taken up in the school.”

Ms Tinai said her son’s ability to speak which won him the national speech competition on climate change opened the door for her to travel with him to Bonn, Germany and other parts of the world.

“The experience in Bonn, Germany really moulded my son into the aspects of challenges in everyday life,” she said.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I expect my son who is only in Year 7 (last year) to take me around the world, he is just something else.

“We just spend most of our time in the villages and all of a sudden we were whisked away, checking into hotels and boarding Airbuses for the first time in our lives.

“From the dairy farms and selling produce we got from our land at the market just to sustain our family, it is really astonishing because the Lord has been using Timoci and it is through faith, we are not relying on our own strength but through God alone.

“At the moment the government is doing renovation works in our house and I reminisce about the hard times that we went through as a family.

“God elevated our status not only within the village of Naivicula, Wainibuka, Tailevu or Fiji but to an international platform.”

Unfortunately, Timoci’s father Onisivoro Sosowani was not present at the prefects’ induction because he was helping the government contractors in the development of their new home.
