South Island Shipping Services Company is hopeful that the Queen of Melbourne documents will be processed by the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji soon.

The former Australian registered vessel has been in the Suva harbour for three weeks now.

Once given the green light the vessel will be renamed before servicing Kadavu.

This new vessel guarantees comfort travelling and economic boom,” SISS managing director Ulaiasi Buivatu said.

SISS also owns MV Liahona I and MV Liahona II – these vessels service the Lau group of islands.

Mr Buivatu said the latest inclusion to their fleet has a seating capacity of 400 passengers.

“We hope to uplift the standard of ferry services to another new level and the success of this new ship very much needs the public support,” he said.
