The Countdown Begins For Annual Tourism Awards

The 21st ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards is on this Saturday.
The 2017 awards saw the introduction of the online submissions process and the Hall of Fame award which will be presented to Likuliku Lagoon Resort as the first inductee to this prestigious recognition of consistent excellence
ANZ FETA Trustee and Organising Committee members wish all the finalists the best of luck as they countdown to the awards night Gala dinner at the Sheraton Fiji Resorts Denarau Convention Centre on Saturday.
An independent panel of judges who are made up of industry leaders and experts assessed the Awards entries.
Treasure Island Resort
Treasure Island Resort, one Fiji’s iconic tourist destination has been nominated in two categories for this year’s ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards this Saturday.

The resort’s general manager Craig Powell said they were proud to have been shortlisted in two categories.
These are the Tourism Sustainability Award and the Accommodation Quality.
“We obviously aspire to greater achievements at Treasure Island as we want to be the best.
“I would like to thank the present team for the terrific work that they have been doing in looking after our visitors on Treasure Island.
“I would also like to thank our management team.”
Mr Powell said Treasure Island had its natural gifts, pristine clean water and white sandy beaches.
“The resort has a marine sanctuary around the whole island and was home to many native species like crested iguana and native birds.”
The resort is also renowned for its protection of turtles where the baby turtles are cared for after birth and then released into the ocean when they are big enough.
“One of the main ingredient into the success of Treasure Island is that the staff are one big family.”
Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort
Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort has been nominated as finalists for two categories the Culinary Services and Accommodation Deluxe.
Resort general manager Peter Hopgood said: “We believe that the ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards is an integral part of the landscape for tourism in Fiji.
“It allows those businesses that excel at what they do, to nominate for these prestigious awards.
“To be nominated as a finalist is a wonderful acknowledgment of the team at the resort.
“They work hard in delivering authentic Fijian holiday experiences to our guests and it is wonderful to see them acknowledged in this way.”
Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort have been a part of the Fiji Tourism Awards for the past 15 years.
“Over this time we have been privledged to be the winner of a number of awards.
“As with a number of the older resorts in Fiji we are looking at upgrades over the next two years.
“We would like to congratulate all finalists in this year’s awards – We are looking forward to a great night!”
Essence Fiji Rejuvenation Centre
Essence Fiji Rejuvenation Centre has been nominated as one of the finalists in the Specialised Tourism Services and Support to the Industry category.
Centre managing director Debra Sadranu said: “The need to showcase our Rejuvenation Centre/Transit Lounge and submit for the Excellence in Tourism Awards was essential, given we have a unique concept that fills a void in the tourism industry.
“Preparation included submission of the many contracts we have established with leading wholesalers and incredibly positive feedback on Trip Advisor that reflects the services we offer.
“We are happy to see that our Transit Lounge has been recognised for the service and support it provides for the many stakeholders in the Fiji Tourism Industry.
Ms Sadranu said it was a real honor to see the concept has been so well received by visiting tourists, hotels, wholesalers, and inbound operators.
“With the demand for our transit lounge facilitating inbound and outbound visitors, we are heavily focusing on extending our Fijian Made retail and dining experience, showcasing the resources and diversity of Fiji.
“The Centre provides a transit escape for tourists that are both affordable and convenient which reflects in the outstanding growth that we have achieved,” she said.
