The Suva Magistrates Court has deferred its judgment on the sedition case against businessman Jagath Karunaratne, and SODELPA opposition Member of Parliament Mosese Bulitavu.

Both men appeared before Magistrate Deepika Prakash yesterday with their lawyers, Aman Ravindra-Singh and Barbara Malimali, respectively.

Karunaratne and Bulitavu are alleged to have written on signboards between Nausori and Suva with the seditious intention of bringing hatred against the Government in 2011.

Magistrate Prakash adjourned the case for judgment on March 26, 2018.

Bulitavu’s lawyer, Ms Malimali, told the court that she would make an application for bail variation for her client to travel overseas for a few days at the end of the month.

Magistrate Prakash advised her to file the application as soon as possible because she would be away in Labasa from February 26 to March 2, 2018.

Bail for both accused men was extended.
