Ma’afu ready to defend Sukuna Shield

Ratu Kadavulevu School defending inter-house champions Ma’afu has prepared well in their quest to defend the title in this year’s competition that got underway yesterday.
Ma’afu senior house master Timoci Satakala said they are expecting a strong challenge from the other houses- Degei, Sukuna and Cakau.
“It won’t be easy defending the Sukuna Shield but we are confident of doing it,” Satakala said.
“The respect for the other teams is always there, but we have prepared well for this year’s competition. We will be looking to turn it up a notch because that is what it will take for us to win again this year.”
They dominated the track events last year and most of their athletes made the RKS squad for the Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics (FSSA) Tailevu Zone and Coca-Cola Games competitions.
“This year we are aiming at balancing out our efforts and have worked really hard in our field events, because we have to explore all avenues in order to edge the other teams.”
The 50-member contingent looked impressive during the heats as they are led by Team Fiji’s athletics rep for the upcoming Commonwealth Games Kameli Sauduadua.
