Women boxer Katrina Faleao Singh will not only be fighting in the ring to establish her name but to show Fijian women on how to stand up for themselves.

Singh who is a Samoan national will be taking on former Fijian female bodybuilder Haifa Work in the lone women’s bout in tonight’s 3×2 minutes round fight in the super welterweight division.

The mother of two who stays in Lautoka has the advantage of already having two professional bouts under her belt.

“Many people ask me why I’m playing this sport since I’m a pretty woman but I believe this is a great platform for me to advocate for women to stand up for themselves in this society. This is my third fight and had been training hard with my husband Chanal Singh.”

It’s been a real dedication for Katarina since taking time out for training is not easy for her especially when she plays her role as a wife and a working mother.

“I’m looking forward to this fight.”

Meanwhile, Work is ready for her first professional fight. She was introduced to the sport by welterweight boxer Sebastian ‘Sniper’ Singh.

“I’m excited. I have been preparing well with Team Sniper and it’s going to be a good fight and I’m looking forward to it,” she added.
