ANZ has released new Fashion ATM surrounds in advance of this weekend’s ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards.

ANZ Fiji Country Head, Saud Minam said: “We’re thrilled to once again showcase Fiji’s talented fashion designers and highlight the business opportunities in Fiji’s creative sectors, and specifically in fashion.

“The tourism industry in particular offers local businesses the chance to sell niche, highend products, such as locally-made garments that showcase Fiji’s and the Pacific’s rich cultural heritage in their designs.”

The Fashion Council of Fiji chairman Faraz Ali said: “It recognises this initiative as being of great value to selected designers as it offers marketing value that would otherwise not be achievable by Small to Medium Enterprises.

“This is big business promotion delivered to members of the fashion business community and we are thrilled to have partnered with ANZ once again to deliver the Fashion ATMs.

“The ATMs also bring fashion, in particular textile design, straight to the consumer. It puts our industry at the forefront of people’s minds which ultimately results in a positive outcome for the industry as a whole.

“We are also happy that we have once again partnered with the ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards, which is an opportunity for two of our most dynamic industries to cross over and explore possible partnerships.

“The Council is grateful to ANZ for its continuous support of our efforts.”

ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards

The annual ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards will be held at the Sheraton Resort, Denarau, today, brings together tourism operators from across Fiji to reward and recognise champions of industry.

ANZ launched the Fashion ATM initiative last year, featuring local designers who have gone on to progress their careers and businesses.

This year’s ANZ Fashion ATMs feature: –

Su Samuel’s LavaLani print at Tappoo City in Suva.

Su is an accountant by day and launched her career as a designer in 2015 with her maiden bridal collection Rairai Vinaka at Fiji Fashion Week. Her more recent LavaLani print is named after her two older daughters, Ailava and Noelani, featuring contemporary tapa cloth designs.

Pacific Islands Art (PIA) at ANZ House in Suva.

Established in Fiji in 2010, PIA has roots in Tahiti as ‘Tahiti Art’ and features contemporary Polynesian motifs, block printed by hand using ancient methods of tapa cloth decorating.

Zelda Thomas’ Reef Collection at Namaka, Nadi.

Zelda’s print features a unique photograph of Fiji’s pristine Beqa Reef. Zelda’s prints are featured on silk kaftans.

Samson Lee’s Vanua print, downtown Nadi.

Samson’s Vanua print is inspired by his love and pride for Fiji’s cultural heritage, giving traditional tapa motifs a modern twist.

The ANZ Fashion ATM initiative is a part of a broader partnership between ANZ and the Fashion Council of Fiji that will also see council members take part in ANZ’s flagship financial literacy programme, MoneyMinded.
