Unity Fiji Party is expected to announce its list of provisional candidates by the end of this month.

Party general secretary Satish Kumar said they were still in the process of selecting their candidates.

“We have a selection committee dealing with the selection process. This is taking place,” he said.

He said once the selection committee had made a decision, then it would be passed through the executive board members who would then endorse the list before it was publicly announced.

“So we are in the process of finalising the candidates and I can say we have a very credible line-up of professionals and those who have excellent experience and qualification,” Mr Kumar said.

“I am very impressed with the applicants and very soon we will be making the announcement supposedly by the end of this month, we are looking at the time frame and have received a large number of applicants.”

Mr Kumar declined to reveal some names of the provisional candidates or those who have applied to join the party.

“We respect some of our member’s position to be discrete until the right timing and when that time comes, we will call for a press conference to make it public,” he said.
