Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s coach Iliesa Tanivula has urged tournament organisers nationwide to include women’s competition in their event.
“Not only will this provide more opportunity for game time but also it promotes gender equality,” he told SUNsports yesterday.
Tanivula said given the limited resources they have at their disposal, they would be taking every opportunity.
“We will be competing at every competition that has a women’s category, in order to maximise our game time.
“The more games and competitions the opportunity for our players to be developed in understanding the game in terms of awareness and so on.
“At the moment we have two teams and we will be rotating them in trying to get our combinations right.”
He said there were some things they would like to get it right and that could only be done if they had more game time.
“But we will make good use of every opportunity and we will be taking it as it comes,” Tanivula said.
Fijiana fielded two teams in the Ram Sami sponsored Nasinu 7s tournament, at the Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori, yesterday.
