Baber Keeps Momentum

The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team coach Gareth Baber has opted to go to Las Vegas with the winning combination of the Hamilton Sevens tournament in New Zealand.
Baber retained his 13-member squad which included, Sevuloni Mocenacagi who was suspended for a dangerous tackle against Samoa in the Hamilton Sevens Cup quarterfinals
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday Baber said, this is important as he needs to keep the momentum on and at the same time create a winning culture in the team.
“Most of the players played well in Hamilton and we are looking to them for another consistent performance,” he said.
Nippy winger Waisea Nacuqu has recovered from an ankle injury and should be back to his best.
Baber said the remaining players in the extended squad would continue on with their training under assistant coach Saiasi Fuli.
“The team will continue to build-up for the Commonwealth Games and the Hong Kong 7s,” he added.
Fiji Rugby Union chief executive officer John O’Connor reminded players that their performance needed to be consistent in every leg of the series. This is for their build-up for the Hong Kong 7s, Commonwealth Games and the Sevens Rugby World Cup in July.
“It is up to the players to go out there and perform like champions and win both tournaments. We wish them all the best and God Speed in Las Vegas and Vancouver.”
The USA 7s will be played at the Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas from March 2-4.
The Fijians are pooled with Kenya, France and Russia in Pool A.
The Seremaia Tuwai-led side will leave for Los Angeles tomorrow.
