Reconciliation Ends In Case Dismissal

A 51-year-old man publicly apologised in the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday for throwing hot tea on a woman who worked in the same building as him.

The complainant appeared before Magistrate Deepika Prakash alongside the accused, Ratu Orisi Sanadali, and confirmed that she was prepared to forgive him.

Sanadali was charged with one count of assault for throwing hot tea on the complainant on December 9 last year after he accused her of having an affair.

When asked by the court, the woman disputed that she was the accused’s workmate. However, she stated that they were related through marriage.

After telling the accused that the matter was a reconcilable offence, Magistrate Prakash told him to apologise to the complainant in court. Sanadali agreed and promised not to commit the offence again.

Magistrate Prakash told him that he was charged with a serious offence and advised him to seek help if he had anger management issues.

She also told him to relook at his behaviour and attitude adding that she did not want to see him again in court. The accused was discharged accordingly after the court accepted his apology and the case was dismissed.
