They gave out home cooked meal packs and coffee at Ratu Sukuna Park, Suva on Thursday evening.

Strategic Headquarters Regimental Sergeant Major and Force Finance, Logistics and Acquisition (FLA) Staff Officer (SO) Policy Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Sivorosi Tora said the men and women of the Strategic Headquarters wanted to end their month by giving back to the less fortunate members of the community.

He said the community outreach initiative which was a joint effort with staff of the Ministry of Social Welfare was a SHQ battalion organised activity coordinated to coincide as part of the battalion month end function.

WO1 Tora said they might not be able to feed all who were in need, but what little they had brought on Thursday they shared with those who were there.

It was part of their intention of giving back to the community.

He said the SHQ unit members would try to make this a monthly event after they started the initiative in December last year.

The giving out of food he said was opened with a short devotion as personnel sang hymns amidst their evening guests.

The SHQ team took to the streets yesterday on a route march as a unit bonding exercise to end their monthly unit function.
