Koroyanitu tops Ba Pro comp

Koroyanitu House won the Ba Provincial High School inter-house athletics competition at Churchill Park in Lautoka on Friday.
It was a stiff competition with Koroyanitu House collecting 24 gold medals, 22 silvers and 21 bronze followed by Koroba House who had 22 gold medals, 20 silvers while Vatuira House was third with 21 gold medals, 29 silvers and 10 bronze. Tomani Ivi House was fourth with 20 gold medals, 24 silvers and 23 bronze.
Principal Meli Tora said though the weather had contributed to their lack of preparations but nevertheless they are more focused on nurturing the children.
“We are really happy with the whole scenario with the kids’ participation but hopefully if the Coca-Cola Games could see some benefits trickle down to the kids,” he said.
“Athletics has minimum benefits when it comes down to the children. For the zone we were hoping that it would take place in the ninth and tenth week but then it has been moved up the eighth week but we will still try to give our best.
“We will be taking over 60 athletes but for the Coca-Cola games I’ll say my piece after crossing the bridge.”
Tora further added that they are hoping to improve their performance from last year where they won a silver in high jump.
“We should better our performance this year and we need the support from the parents and guardians.”
