Veteran lawn bowler Litia Tikoisuva will use the Kontiki National Triples Bowling Championship as a platform to prepare for the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia on April 4-15.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, the Nacavanadi, Gau native said, the first day of competition was a tough one as she hopes to make it to the finals.

“The first day we played against some upcoming teams who were very competitive,” Tikoisuva said.

“But we were lucky to have won the first round of games for today and we hope to keep the momentum alive till the final day of competition, which is tomorrow.

“And for most bowlers this tournament is a great platform to impress the selectors who are yet to finalise the squad for the Commonwealth Games.

“But for me personally, I feel this competition is sort of like a trial for me and other national reps that will be competing at the Games.

“I hope with the remaining one month left for the Commonwealth Games I will utilise each day on improving my skills.

“I would like to thank Kontiki Finance for sponsoring the tournament this year and hope to finish the competition on a high note.”

Meanwhile, Tikoisuva first represented Fiji at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland, New Zealand but only missed out at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India, since Fiji’s membership was suspended at that time.
