Slipway Undergoes Refurbishment

Repair works on larger vessels have been put on hold by the Fiji Ships and Heavy Industries Limited (FSHIL). This is to allow its 1000 tonne slipway to undergo refurbishment.

Slipway Undergoes Refurbishment
The fishing vessels Shen Gan Fa 17 and the Sheng Gang Fa 175 at the FSHIL 1000 tonne slipway at Walu Bay in Suva.

Repair works on larger vessels have been put on hold by the Fiji Ships and Heavy Industries Limited (FSHIL).

This is to allow its 1000 tonne slipway to undergo refurbishment.

Repair works include removal and replacement of worn out cradle rails, removal and renewal of defected Diagonal and Cross  ‘C’ Channel Brace, removal and replacement of worn out and damaged wheels and Bracket and re-alignment of cradles to the existing rails.

The last vessel to be slipped on the 1000 tonne slipway was fishing vessel Shen Gang Fa 715 of Shen Gang Fa Fisheries which was serviced from February 14 to 20 this year.

The 1000 tonne slipway is expected to be operational again by the end of this week.

Meanwhile, works continue as normal for the 500 ton slipway.

The past week, two vessels were slipped for servicing.

Both vessels belong to Shen Gang Fa Fisheries.
