Vesi House is the new winner for the 2018 Dilkusha Methodist High School inter-house competition held at the ANZ Stadium yesterday.

The athletes in red collected 31 gold, 18 silver and 16 bronze medals followed by 2017 winners  Yaka  in second place with 24 gold, 13 silver and 15 bronze, Damanu settled for third place with 20 gold, 35 silver and 24 bronze  and Dakua finished fourth with 14 gold, 17 silver and 23 bronze.

Speaking to SUN sports yesterday, DMHS principal Satyendra Singh said 250 students participated in the competition as he looks forward to prepare their potential athletes for the Triple N zone.

“This year we had a total of 250 students participating and there was a stiff competition among the four houses,” Singh said.

“And definitely we are looking forward to give a tough competition to our competitors out there in the Triple N zone.

“Also, having said that we have some surprises out there for the students and we are working towards building capacity and potential in our athletes.

“One of the hardships which we have faced from the previous years is the lack of training for the athletes as we didn’t prioritise our time towards students prep aration that well.

“Nevertheless, apart from the usual trainings conducted at school students are also doing their individual training.

“I also think it was a good idea to have brought the students out here at the ANZ Stadium to compete as they will get the feeling of to what to expect during the Triple N zone and the Coca cola Games.

“Looking at our performance from last year we didn’t win any medals in the coke games but this year we hope to change that.”
