FRU Submits 7s Bid

The Fiji Rugby Union has confirmed its thatit has submitted their bid to host a leg of the HSBC World Sevens Series 2019/2020.
FRU chief executive officer John O’Connor told SUNsports they had complied with the bid requirements and had submitted their bid to World Rugby prior to the deadline.
“We can confirm that we have submitted our bid submission to World Rugby prior to the deadline,” he said.
O’Connor highlighted that FRU together with the Fiji Rugby bid team, led by Brian Thorburn and Greg Peters were confident that they had submitted a credible and strong bid which ticked all the criteria boxes in all the categories as set out by World Rugby.
“We are confident that we have submitted a very strong and credible bid,” Oconnor said.
He confirmed that FRU now looks forward to participating in the evaluation process with World Rugby. A decision on the bid is expected to be delivered by World Rugby by June 2018.
The FRU would like to thank the President of Fiji, Prime Minister, Attorney General and Minister of Economy, the Fijian Government, all our affiliated unions, sponsors, corporate organisations, relevant Government ministries and all Fijians throughout the world for supporting the bid.
The FRU expects to make public the details of the submission during the Fiji Rugby Awards dinner which is planned for March 9.
