the Tanoa Group of Hotels has embarked on a upgrade and refurbishment programme with all their hotel properties in Fiji with initial expenditure in excess of $8 million.

The company is in the process of finishing the refurbishment to the Tanoa International in Nadi.

Tanoa Group’s Area General Manager Fiji, Narend Kumar revealed this during the company’s Annual Strategy Meeting of all Tanoa Hotels general managers for Fiji, Tonga and Samoa at Tanoa International Nadi on Tuesday. Tanoa Group chairman Yanktesh Permal (YP) Reddy, managing director Rohit Reddy and director Kamini Reddy were also at the meeting.

“What we are doing is working out strategies to improve on our services and take the Tanoa Group up a few more notches,” Mr Kumar said.

“This Annual Strategy Meeting is where we meet and discuss our strategies for 2018 to 2019.

“Tanoa Rakiraki is a brand new product where we have come back strongly after being devasted by TC Winston in 2016.”

He said the hotel was quick to spring back and this included new refurbishment to most facilities that has seen Tanoa Rakiraki be the place to stay while in town.

“For Tanoa Waterfront in Lautoka we are planning to extend the hotel with more rooms and facilities.”

Mr Kumar said the company would be spending just over $3 million for the extension and refurbishment of the hotel.

Skylodge would have a brand new swimming pool and an upgraded to some of its facilities.

About $5 million was being spent at Tanoa International in Nadi with major upgrading and refurbishing of all the rooms which it is hoped would finish in 2019.

“The rooms here will be one of the best in Fiji when completed and this will certainly enhance the already outstanding image our group of hotels has.

“Fiji is growing with new tourism accommodation and facilities coming up so we want to be up there and maintain our high standard.”

Tanoa Group of Hotels has also increased the rates for its employees to make it one of the best in the tourism industry.

“Yes we have done that as we want to be the preferred employer where people join us knowing they will be remunerated well for the hard work they put in,” Mr Kumar said.

“We are certainly looking after our employees well.”

Meanwhile Mr Kumar said the outstanding part of the group was that all the hotels had local staffing, beginning from the general manager.
