The Vodafone Lautoka football side will start their OFC Champions League preparation on Thursday.

This was confirmed yesterday by head coach Kamal Swamy as they arrived at Nadi International Airport. Families and fans gathered to welcome the side after they qualified for the quarterfinals.

“Yes we have qualified and now it is time to prepare for the next round,” he said.

Swamy said they’ve already had meetings with officials in New Zealand to discuss ways to prepare for the quarterfinals.

“I think everything is on right track now so we will start training on Thursday.”

Swamy said they would have to look into fixing a few other issues before preparations get underway. He added that some of the players received minor injuries.

“We are looking at the injuries, there is nothing severe. Right now it’s all family affairs and we will continue from there.

“Around four to five players will be away on national duty so we will have to deal with the numbers left and also prepare for the national league.”

He said that he was happy with the team performance.

“We are happy because we were representing the country and the Lautoka team has done Fiji proud. Right now we are working on keeping positions, to create space for different games with different approaches. We need to master this and focus on it,” Swamy added.
